Learning at Greengate Lane Academy

At Greengate Lane Primary Academy, we have a shared approach to learning, growing, and thriving together. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and inspiring education where every child can succeed.

Our curriculum is built around the National Curriculum framework, ensuring that children receive a broad and balanced education. We cover all statutory subjects including English, mathematics, science, computing, history, geography, art, design technology, music, physical education (PE), and modern foreign languages in Key Stage 2. In addition, we teach religious education (RE), personal, social and health education (PSHE), and provide a strong focus on emotional wellbeing and personal development.

Each subject is carefully sequenced to build knowledge, deepen understanding, and develop key skills. Our curriculum encourages children to make links between subjects, ask questions, solve problems, and engage in meaningful learning experiences.

Our curriculum is driven by high expectations, ambition, and inclusion. We support every child to achieve their full potential, whatever their starting point, and ensure that learning is exciting, purposeful, and relevant to the world around them. Alongside academic learning, we provide enrichment through visits, themed days, outdoor learning and leadership opportunities.

We are proud to be part of the Astrea Academy Trust, a community of schools working together to achieve excellence. The Trust’s core values – scholarship, curiosity, tenacity, aspiration, and empathy – are woven throughout school life. These values shape the way we learn, behave and grow as individuals and as a community.

Our mission, “Individually we grow, together we thrive,” captures our belief in both personal growth and collective success. At Greengate Lane, every child is known, supported, and celebrated.

By working in close partnership with families and drawing on the strength of the Astrea network, we are building a nurturing, ambitious school where children feel proud, valued, and ready for the future.
